We'd like to give a very special thanks to our good friend Rachel Terril. Not only has she been an advocate for the PSP and contributed many pair of slippers to our challenges, Rachel has designed for Leisure Arts, Workbasket, Knitting World Magazine as well as other industry publications. We are so excited and honored that Rachel designed the second official Pink Slipper Project Pattern!
It's the pattern you've all been waiting for... The "Signature Worsted Weight Cuffed Slippers" that were featured in the Lion Brand Yarn Newsletter. Rachel has worked the pattern out in all 3 sizes making it a very versatile pattern.
Pattern will be available to download as a PDF at noon today.
Sizes: Large/Ladies; Medium/Teen; Small/Children
3 oz. of Red Heart Worsted Weight yarn.
Size 9 straight needles.
Tapestry needle
Gauge: Gauge is not an issue in slippers.
This pattern is written for small sizes, medium and large
sizes are in ( ).
Note: These slippers are sized in inches not in shoe sizes. If you would like a folded or higher cuff, add 10 sts to cast on and bind off 10 sts rather than 5 sts.
Using one strand of yarn, cast on 36(40)(46) sts leaving an 18” tail. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures 4 (4 1/2)(5) inches. At the beginning of the next 2 rows bind off 5 sts. Work on remaining sts until piece measures 6½(8)(9) inches or ½ inch less than desired slipper length.
Toe shaping:
Row 1: K1, k2 tog, repeat across row.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K2tog across.
Cut yarn leaving 18 inches to sew instep seam.
Finishing: With right sides together, fold slipper lengthwise. Sew cast on edge together to form heel. Sew instep seam from toe to cuff.
Make 2nd slipper.
Add bow to each slipper or decorate as desired.
